About us:

Trócaire has been working with civil society organisations within and outside Myanmar since 1995. Trócaire’s work focuses on women’s empowerment and resource rights, while at the same time providing multi-sector humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected communities in the northern part of Myanmar. Trócaire’s peace programme provides a small contribution on the path to peace in Myanmar. The organisation works through local partnerships to strengthen civil society and ensure respect for human rights. This work is carried out in Yangon and Tanintharyi Regions, and Mon, Kayah, Kachin, and Shan States – all of which are either in post-conflict situations or experiencing ongoing conflict. Trócaire works in partnership 24 national/local organisations in Myanmar to bring about change at individual, community, societal and institutional levels. Trócaire tackles the root causes of poverty, not just the symptoms.
