Alinn Banmaw Local Development Organization started out as a field unit of the Metta Foundation in 1999 and became an independent organisation in 2004. It is based in Banmaw and was registered with Ministry of Home Affairs as a non-governmental organization in 2013. Its overall programme target area includes all 4 Townships of Banmaw District. Alinn Banmaw has been working in partnership with Metta, Swissaid and Norwegian People’s Aid since 2005. Alinn Banmaw also works together with a variety of funding partners including: Oxfam in Myanmar for work on livelihoods, land-rights, community forestry and social accountability; the BBC for work on media/radio; Equality Myanmar and Paungku for work on civic education; Metta for work on environmental CSO strengthening.
Alinn Banmaw is an active member of the KCSN (Kachin Civil Society Network) and takes a leading role in BCSN (Banmaw Civil Society Network). Alinn Banmaw regularly participates in Banmaw coordination meetings between CSOs, INGOs and UN agencies organised by UNOCHA. They are also a member of some national networks including: Food Security Working Group, The Land Core Group, and Myanmar Environmental Rehabilitation-conservation Network (MERN).
Under the DPP, Alinn Banmaw is implementing livelihoods activities, including providing training and start-up funds to livelihoods groups.
