Kachin Women’s Association (KWA) was founded on the 19th August 1978 to improve women’s participation in building a better Kachin society. KWA stands for women’s voices, actions, and participation in the development of the community. KWA advocates for access to rights, especially the right to education and the health of women and children. KWA preserves the traditions and culture of Kachin society and improves women’s participation in political, economic and social matters by organizing Kachin women from different areas. KWA implements activities on Early Child Care and Development (ECCD), child protection and women’s protection, especially on Gender-based violence (GBV) and counter trafficking, women’s participation in the Peace Process, women’s empowerment, and livelihoods.
Under the DPP, KWA is implementing activities around vocational training, gender, including women’s peace and security, and early childhood care and development.
