About us:

The Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) was founded in 1910 and has grown into a large faith-based organization made up of over 15 departments/ committees. The KBC is formed by 250 delegates and over 400,000 members of 384 local church communities in 15 zone associations across Myanmar. KBC’s overall mission is to “Serve the World” (Mathew 28:19-20). KBC headquarters are located in Myitkyina, the capital of Kachin State, and it is one of the biggest Christian denominations in Kachin and Shan State. The KBC Humanitarian and Development Department has conducted humanitarian and development program in 74 Camps and 75 communities across Myanmar.

KBC’s overall objective is to serve vulnerable communities and societies, protecting their lives with dignity and alleviating their human suffering, resulting from natural disasters or violent conflicts, and to address poverty, environmental degradation, and social injustice through holistic and sustainable development.

Some KBC programmes:

  • Humanitarian Programmes, including camp coordination and management, emergency food and cash support, and host community empowerment
  • Community Development Programmes, including women’s grassroots leadership programmes, vocational training, and organisational development
  • Social Enterprise Programmes, including micro credit unions, income generating activities, and supporting a job agency
  • Peace Programmes, including interfaith dialogues and civil society strengthening

Under the DPP:

KBC is implementing activities around livelihoods, early childhood care and development, land rights and village mapping, interfaith dialogue, peace and conflict, and gender.
